China Reiterates Support for Palestinian Rights and Calls for International Unity
The Chinese Embassy has issued a statement, citing Gu Jiakun, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a press conference on February 6. Gu Jiakun emphasized that Gaza is an integral part of Palestinian territory and should not be perceived as a mere bargaining chip in political negotiations. According to him, Gaza represents the legitimate rights of Palestinians and should not be reduced to a victim of international power struggles.
The spokesperson stressed that the international community, particularly major powers, must unite to provide humanitarian aid and assist in the reconstruction of Gaza, rather than exacerbating the situation with actions that perpetuate the conflict.
China has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people. It has reiterated that the governance of Gaza must remain in the hands of the Palestinians themselves, emphasizing that the principle of "Palestine governed by Palestinians" must be respected. Furthermore, China firmly rejects any attempt to forcibly transfer Gaza's inhabitants, a policy it considers a violation of human rights and the integrity of the Palestinian people.
Gu Jiakun reiterated China's position that a just political solution to the Palestinian question must be found quickly. China supports the "two-state solution" as a fundamental principle, which involves the creation of an independent and fully sovereign Palestinian state, based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. China is ready to work with the international community to achieve a peaceful and equitable resolution to this long-standing conflict.
