Government Meeting Focuses on Reforming Check Fraud Legislation
During a ministerial council meeting dedicated to amending Article 411 of the Commercial Code, the Head of Government emphasized the importance of collaborative work and the approach adopted to develop this bill. The project primarily aims to review the constituent elements of the offense of issuing checks without provision and the associated penalties.
Moreover, contrary to popular belief, statistics from the Ministry of Justice, as of April 2024, show that 496 individuals are currently incarcerated for issuing checks without provision, including 292 convicted and 204 in pre-trial detention. It is also noteworthy that these 496 detainees are involved in 11,265 cases, with each check issued constituting a separate judicial file.
This bill will be submitted to the Assembly of the People's Representatives for review.
