Tunisia's Check System to Evolve with New Measures in 2025

Tunisia's check system is set to undergo significant changes with the introduction of new measures planned for 2025. These provisions, established by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) under Law No. 2024-41 of August 2, 2024, and Circular BCT No. 2024-14, aim to modernize and secure transactions through a centralized electronic check platform (PECC).

According to an official publication by Amen Bank, the following key steps will be taken:

  • January 20, 2025: Banks will start accepting requests for new check formats, designed to be used on the PECC platform.
  • January 27, 2025: Clients are strongly encouraged to stop using old check formats from this date. New formats will also be available for delivery.
  • January 31, 2025: Last deadline for presenting old checks for clearance. After this date, they will no longer be accepted.
  • February 2, 2025: Official launch of the PECC platform, centralizing and securing all check transactions.

Amen Bank recommends that its clients prepare for this transition as soon as possible to avoid any disruptions to their banking operations. To obtain the new check formats, it is advised to contact bank agencies as early as possible.
