Chekib Regaieg Appointed as President-Director General of Tunisian National Railway Company (SNCFT)
Chekib Regaieg has been appointed as the President-Director General of the Tunisian National Railway Company (SNCFT), succeeding Taoufik Boufaied. His appointment was officially confirmed by Decree No. 2025-191 of April 10, 2025, published in the Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic (JORT No. 44 of April 15, 2025).
With over 28 years of experience within SNCFT, Chekib Regaieg is intimately familiar with the inner workings of the company he is now called to lead.
As a principal engineer by training, he began his career at SNCFT in 1997, progressively climbing the ranks. From maintaining rolling stock to directing the general services cell, and from railway safety to internal auditing, network operation, and environmental management, he has held around 15 positions, both technical and administrative.
Before his appointment as head of SNCFT, Regaieg had been serving as the delegated administrator of Sotrafer (Railway Works Company), a subsidiary specialized in railway infrastructure works, since February 2025.
His rich experience in maintenance, quality, safety, and network operation suggests a technico-operational orientation for his presidency, at a time when SNCFT is facing multiple challenges: modernizing its rolling stock, securing its lines, improving service reliability, and relaunching structural projects such as the RFR (Rapid Railway Network).
