Poland to Introduce Strict Immigration Reform from June 1, 2025

According to Schengen News, Poland will introduce a strict reform of its labor immigration policy starting from June 1, 2025, as announced by President Andrzej Duda. The new legislation aims to tighten the granting of work visas and better regulate migratory flows.

The reform is based on several key axes:

Clarifying the sectors accessible to foreign workers
Defining precise legal working conditions
Strengthening controls to limit abuses
Partially digitizing visa application procedures to reduce processing times
Clarifying the roles of local authorities, employers, and job seekers to ensure greater transparency in the process

Additionally, family members of foreign workers will face stricter entry conditions in Poland. The government justifies these restrictions by citing the significant increase in the number of foreign workers, from 260,000 in 2022 to 530,000 in 2023. While their contribution has helped address shortages in key sectors, some unions perceive their massive arrival as a threat to local jobs.
