The smartphone has become the sole required pass to board flights at Moroccan airports. Airports of Morocco has launched Pax Check, a system that allows travelers to use a fully digital boarding pass, eliminating the need to present printed documents during various checks.
How it Works
After checking in online with their airline, passengers receive a secure QR code on their phone. This code is then used to pass through checkpoints and automated gates until boarding. Travel document verification is performed in advance by airlines, in accordance with regulatory requirements, limiting manual checks within terminals.
A New Step in Digital Transformation
This development marks a new stage in the digital transformation of Moroccan airport infrastructure. Following online booking, mobile check-in, and flight tracking, digitization now covers the entire passenger journey at the airport. For airport operators, the benefits go beyond reducing paper usage. Digitalization aims to streamline passenger flow, reduce waiting times, facilitate the use of automated equipment, and improve terminal capacity to absorb increased air traffic while maintaining international security and safety standards.
Gradual Deployment
However, the deployment will not be immediate for all airlines. Airports of Morocco specifies that the system will be gradually extended to carriers that have adapted their technical infrastructure and met the operational and regulatory requirements necessary for integration.
