Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy Refutes Reports of Seized Fuel
The Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy has denied reports circulated by certain media outlets regarding the alleged seizure of one million liters of fuel destined for the Albanian city of Durrës.
In an official statement released on January 16, the ministry clarified that the ships that docked at a Tunisian port at the end of December 2024 were not oil tankers but cargo ships transporting cement.
Furthermore, the seized products do not concern crude oil but rather petroleum derivatives.
It is worth noting that the department reminded that the fuel supply for oil tankers is subject to strict security standards and rigorous customs procedures. Additionally, crude oil exports carried out by companies operating in Tunisia's production fields are also subject to prior authorizations and systematic customs controls.
The ministry also emphasized in the same statement that fuel distribution companies operating in the Tunisian market do not have the authorization to export petroleum products. The available fuel stocks in the country's various storage centers are exclusively reserved for supplying the local market and refueling ships and aircraft, always under the supervision of customs authorities.
This clarification aims to dispel misunderstandings and reaffirm the transparency of operations related to energy products in Tunisia.
