African Startups Can Apply to the Innovate2prevent Innovation Competition

African startups can now apply to the Innovate2prevent innovation competition, which aims to inspire and mobilize creative minds worldwide to develop innovative, inclusive, and data-driven circular business approaches.

Implemented by Yunus Environment Hub on behalf of the Prevent waste alliance, this program allows innovators, ecologists, and pioneers to present and advance their innovative solutions contributing to a circular economy in GIZ's (German Development Cooperation) priority countries.

The competition is seeking three types of solutions:

  • Those that contribute to extending the lifespan of products, closing resource loops, or optimizing resource efficiency through the reuse, refurbishment, or repair of electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Those in the plastic value chain that contribute to gradually reducing single-use plastics.
  • Those that support a circular economy by integrating digital solutions and interoperable data models across product life cycles and value chains.

Applications are open until July 5 and must be submitted in English.

For any information, candidates can contact Yunus Environment Hub via bramwel.omondi@yunuseh.com or leonard.mwasi@yunuseh.com, and also the Prevent secretariat via anika.schumann@giz.de and steffen.blume@giz.de.
