Cereal Harvest Exceeds Five-Year Average in Tunisia
As of July 29, 2025, collection centers have recorded a total volume of 11,747 million quintals of cereals, surpassing the five-year average for the same period, according to figures published by the Grain Office.
Breakdown of Cereal Harvest
The total quantity is divided into:
- 94.1% (11,049 million quintals) for consumption
- 5.9% (approximately 0.699 million quintals) for selected seeds
Cereal Types and Quantities
Among the cereals for consumption, the breakdown is:
- 7,510 million quintals of durum wheat
- 0.576 million quintals of soft wheat
- 2,920 million quintals of barley
- 0.043 million quintals of triticale
As for selected seeds, the collections amount to:
- 0.615 million quintals of durum wheat
- 0.063 million quintals of soft wheat
- 0.020 million quintals of barley
- 0.001 million quintals of triticale
Regional Distribution of Harvest
The regional distribution of collected quantities shows a significant contribution from:
- Béja (2,792,000 quintals, 23.76%)
- Bizerte (1,785,000 quintals, 15.20%)
- Siliana (1,568,000 quintals, 13.35%)
- Le Kef (1,266,000 quintals, 11.66%)
- Jendouba (1,266,000 quintals, 10.78%)
Other regions, such as Zaghouan (756,000 quintals, 6.44%), Kairouan (724,000 quintals, 6.16%), and La Manouba (649,000 quintals, 5.52%), also made significant contributions.
Smaller Volumes Collected in Other Regions
Smaller volumes were collected in Nabeul, Kasserine, Ariana, Sidi Bouzid, Gafsa, Sousse, and Mahdia.
Transportation of Cereals
The Grain Office reports that transportation operations from production areas to consumption areas are ongoing to meet the needs of the domestic market, with 4.9 million quintals already transported as of July 29.
Support for Farmers and Stakeholders
Finally, the Grain Office reminds farmers and all concerned stakeholders that a special monitoring cell has been set up to accompany the 2025 harvest campaign. This cell remains available to provide information and help resolve any difficulties encountered during the harvest.
