Ministry of Finance Budget: 1390 Billion Dinars, Up 2.4% from Last Year

The Ministry of Finance has been allocated a budget of 1390 billion dinars, a 2.4% increase from the previous year. The ministry's mission is organized into five main programs:

  • Revenue collection: 292.9 billion dinars
  • Public accounting: 405.7 billion dinars
  • Budgetary services: 15.1 billion dinars
  • Public debt management: 3.4 billion dinars

A significant portion of the budget (81%) is dedicated to the salaries of ministry employees, while operating expenses amount to 112.6 billion dinars (8%), intervention expenses to 38.2 billion dinars (3%), and investment expenses to 118.4 billion dinars (8%).

Ministry of Finance Priorities

The Minister of Finance has stated that her department will continue to work on updating the Exchange Code, with a greater focus on young entrepreneurs, including freelancers, allowing them to open foreign currency accounts.

Digital Transformation

The Ministry of Finance is committed to digital transformation, with concrete initiatives such as the "TEJ" platform, launched in 2024, which aims to simplify the management of withholding tax certificates, targeting large and medium-sized enterprises as well as accounting professionals.

The development of the Tunimpôt mobile application is another aspect of this strategy, offering taxpayers a free interface to calculate their taxes and receive reminders of tax deadlines.

Combating Parallel Economy and Tax Evasion

The steering committee dedicated to combating parallel economy and tax evasion is working closely with relevant stakeholders to limit the scope of this phenomenon and integrate these activities into the formal economy.
