Minister of Economy and Planning Announces Allocation of 252.5 Million Dinars for Regional Development Program
The Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelhafidh, announced that approximately 252.5 million dinars will be allocated for the financing of the regional development program as part of the 2025 state budget project.
During a session dedicated to the syndicated credit agreement between Tunisia and the European Investment Bank (EIB), Abdelhafidh responded to deputies' questions, explaining that these funds will support regional projects, including those aimed at improving public lighting.
Regarding stalled projects, the minister specified that his department is responsible for coordinating and regularly monitoring public projects. A list of blocked projects has been established and will be submitted to the Higher Commission for Accelerating Project Implementation, created under the direction of the government presidency.
This commission comprises several ministers, including those of Finance, Development, Investment, and International Cooperation, Communication Technologies, Equipment, as well as the Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia.
According to Decree No. 2024-497, published on October 24, 2024, in the Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic (JORT), the commission is responsible for issuing a decisive opinion on the markets related to their implementation.
The commission is also tasked with monitoring the progress of examined projects through a dashboard and performance indicators.
