Tunisia Enters 2026 with Ambitious Project to Strengthen its Position in Digital Technology
Tunisia is kicking off 2026 with an ambitious project that could bolster its strategic position in the field of digital technology and cutting-edge technologies. A company has just secured a long-term land lease to build one of the largest sustainable data center clusters in Africa, located in the heart of the Bizerte free zone, one of the country's main economic hubs. As announced by Amir Ben Gacem, CEO of SoleCrypt.
Strategic Location
The site was not chosen by chance. "Its strategic location allows for quick connection between Africa and Europe with low latency, under 10 milliseconds," he explains. He adds: "It is located just 2 km from the landing station of underwater fiber optic cables, ensuring fast and reliable data exchanges." In fact, access to energy and infrastructure is also optimal. According to the same source, the city's high-voltage substation is 1.5 km away, while Tunis International Airport is an hour's drive away, facilitating transportation and logistics.
Key Features of the Site
The proximity of the main port of Bizerte (1.7 km), the main fire station (100 m), and the central train station (400 m) further enhances the site's attractiveness. With its unique combination of strategic location, access to energy and infrastructure, and proximity to key transportation hubs, this project is poised to strengthen Tunisia's position in the digital technology sector and make it a major player in the African market.
