Recent Discussions with Chinese Partners to Revive "Oum Lakhcheb" Project in Metlaoui, Gafsa
Recently, discussions have taken place with the Chinese party responsible for the "Oum Lakhcheb" project in Metlaoui, Gafsa, with the aim of relaunching the works and resolving the issues. The Minister of Industry, Energy, and Mines, Fatma Thabet, met with a high-level delegation from the Chinese company "WENGFU", which is active in the production of phosphate and its derivatives.
Project Overview
The "Oum Lakhcheb" project is a development initiative aimed at increasing phosphate production capacity by 2.4 million tons per year, representing approximately 30% of the total production of the Gafsa Phosphate Company. This expansion is also expected to create 600 jobs, divided between the open-pit mine and the production unit.
