BH Assurance Records 5.8% Decline in Premiums to 44,288 MTND in Q2 2025

BH Assurance has reported a 5.8% decline in premiums to 44,288 MTND at the end of the second quarter of 2025. This decrease is primarily attributed to the Life segment, which saw its revenue drop by 6.9% to 20,381 MTND.

Non-Life Segment Sees Decline in Transport and Health

In the Non-Life segment, a downward trend was observed in Transport (-50.6% to 0.989 MTND) and Health (-25.3% to 7,908 MTND). However, this is not necessarily a negative trend, as these two activities were the only ones to record negative technical results in 2024, respectively -0.075 and -1,415 MTND. This appears to be a deliberate risk selection policy by management rather than a decline in business.

First Half-Year Results Show Growth

Over the entire first half-year, premiums totaled 109,318 MTND, compared to 103,326 MTND during the same period in 2024. Growth was driven by the IARD (+52.4% to 14,932 MTND) and Automobile (+21.5% to 26,108 MTND) segments. The cession rate stood at 11.9%, in line with the company's historical trend.

Fewer Claims and Lower Expenses

The first half-year was marked by a decrease in claims. In total, the insurer reimbursed 67,349 MTND, compared to 79,111 MTND during the same period in 2024. There was a significant reduction in claims expenses in the IARD segment (1,531 MTND only, compared to 22,321 MTND the previous year), while the Life segment saw an increase (26,775 MTND compared to 17,581 MTND the previous year). Investment products stood at 16,996 MTND, demonstrating resilience despite the decline in interest rates.

Positive Outlook for Half-Year Results

These figures bode well for the half-year results. Moreover, since the beginning of the year, the company's stock has performed well, with a 35.4% increase.
