Central Bank of Tunisia Publishes Latest Monetary and Financial Indicators

The Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) released its latest monetary and financial indicators on March 10, 2025. These indicators reveal notable developments in tourism revenue and net foreign exchange assets, two essential sectors for the country's economic health.

Tourism Revenue Sees Significant Growth

Cumulative tourism revenue for February 2025 reached 887.9 million Tunisian dinars (Mtnd), representing a 50.8 Mtnd increase compared to the same period last year, which stood at 801.8 Mtnd. This growth is a testament to the resilience of Tunisia's tourism sector, despite global economic challenges. The 136.9 Mtnd increase from the previous year could signal a resurgence of tourist flows and renewed interest in Tunisia as a destination, despite competition from other regional tourist markets.

Net Foreign Exchange Assets Experience Slight Decline

In contrast, the situation regarding the BCT's net foreign exchange assets is more mixed. As of March 10, 2025, net foreign exchange assets stood at 23.1 billion dinars (23,114.7 Mtnd), marking a decrease of 471.5 Mtnd from the previous day. Furthermore, import coverage has slightly decreased, falling from 107 days to 101 days, a decline of six days of imports.
