Central Bank of Tunisia Reports Improvement in Monetary Indicators

The latest indicators published by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) on April 10, 2025, reveal an improvement on several fronts of the monetary situation.

Foreign Exchange Reserves

The net foreign exchange reserves have reached 23,532.7 million Tunisian dinars (Mtnd), compared to 23,160.2 Mtnd a year earlier, representing a gain of 372.5 Mtnd. However, in terms of import coverage, the reserves have decreased to 103 days, compared to 105 days the previous year, due to increased import needs.

Budgetary Performance

On the budgetary front, the current account balance of the Treasury has reached 2,005.9 Mtnd, posting a marked increase of +26.7% year-over-year.

Currency in Circulation

Another notable development is the decrease in currency in circulation, from 23,924 Mtnd to 23,883 Mtnd. Although slight, this decline is significant in a context where cash demand is traditionally high.
