Central Bank of Tunisia and Afreximbank Strengthen Partnership to Boost Investments and Regional Economic Integration
According to a recent statement, the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their partnership during a recent meeting. The two institutions discussed ways to increase investments in Tunisia, particularly by mobilizing innovative financing for key development projects. Afreximbank expressed its willingness to open a regional center in Tunisia to further support inclusive and sustainable growth initiatives in the country.
The discussions also focused on the crucial role of regional payment platforms in developing commercial exchanges in Africa. The BCT's membership in the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS) was hailed as a major step in Tunisia's economic integration into Africa. Both parties emphasized the importance of encouraging Tunisian banks to join this platform to facilitate cross-border transactions and promote regional economic integration.
