World Bank Ranking: Palestine's National Income Exceeds Several MENA Countries
According to the latest World Bank classification based on Gross National Income (GNI), Palestine has a national income of $4,220, surpassing several countries in the MENA region.
The countries that rank below Palestine are:
- Egypt: $3,900
- Tunisia: $3,770
- Lebanon: $3,740
- Morocco: $3,700
- Djibouti: $3,450
- Yemen: $820
- Syria: $560
This classification is based on the 2023 GNI per capita. The country classification is divided into four categories: high income, upper-middle income, lower-middle income, and low income, and changes from one year to another.
It's worth noting that in the 2023 classification, which uses 2022 data, Palestine was an upper-middle-income country, with a GNI of $4,610. This year, it has been downgraded to the lower-middle-income category due to the Gaza war.
Regarding Tunisia, it is classified as a lower-middle-income country. It was previously classified as an upper-middle-income country from 2010 to 2014.
