Islamic Development Bank Announces $135 Million Financing for Upper Atbara Dam Complex in Eastern Sudan
The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has announced a $135 million financing package for the Upper Atbara Dam Complex in eastern Sudan. This investment will strengthen the region's hydraulic and energy infrastructure.
The project, aimed at sustainable resource management, will utilize 3.6 billion cubic meters of water and generate 320 megawatts of renewable energy at the Rumaila power plant.
In addition to boosting renewable energy production, the project will provide potable water to eastern Sudan, benefiting local communities and supporting long-term development and stability.
