Tunisia Sees Significant Drop in Crude Oil Production

According to a recent report published by the National Observatory of Energy and Mines, Tunisia has recorded a significant decline in its crude oil production, reaching 1,135 thousand tons (kt) by the end of October 2024, a 14% decrease compared to the same period in 2023.

This sharp decline, marked in key fields such as Maamoura (-89%) and El Hajeb/Guebiba (-36%), reflects structural challenges in the Tunisian oil sector.

On the other hand, significant increases observed in fields like Bir Ben Tartar (+78%) and Sidi Litayem (+27%) show potential for recovery if targeted efforts are made.

In a context of growing energy pressure, these figures highlight the need for Tunisia to diversify its energy sources and modernize its infrastructure.
