Net Foreign Assets of the Central Bank of Tunisia Reach 23,025.3 MTD as of April 2, 2025

The net foreign assets of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) stood at 23,025.3 million Tunisian dinars (MTD) as of April 2, 2025, representing 101 days of imports. This level remains stable compared to the previous day, but shows a slight decrease compared to the 105 days recorded during the same period in 2024.

Meanwhile, the tourism sector continues to progress. Cumulative tourism revenues reached 1,210.6 MTD as of March 20, 2025, up by 139 MTD compared to the previous year.

Remittances from Tunisian workers abroad have also seen a significant increase, reaching 1,695.1 MTD, compared to 1,486.9 MTD a year earlier. This 208.2 MTD increase reflects the growing contribution of Tunisians living abroad to the national economy.

On the other hand, the external debt service has increased to reach 5,473.9 MTD, compared to 5,112.4 MTD in 2024, recording a 361.5 MTD increase.

On the monetary market, the BCT's benchmark interest rate stands at 7.5%, compared to 8% last year, reflecting a slight easing of monetary conditions. The money market rate (TMM) also stands at 7.5%, marking a 0.47 percentage point decrease compared to last year.

As for exchange rates, the Tunisian dinar has experienced a slight appreciation against the US dollar, trading at 3.1053 MTD per dollar as of March 28, 2025, compared to 3.1254 MTD on the same date in 2024. However, it remains relatively stable against the euro at 3.3428 MTD.
