Tunisian Group Assad Completes Acquisition of Remaining Shares in Algerian Subsidiary
The Tunisian group Assad has finalized the purchase of the remaining shares of its Algerian subsidiary, Batteries Assad Algérie (BAA). The operation, concluded on July 16, 2026, involves the 4% of capital still held by local Algerian investors. The group now holds 100% of the capital of its subsidiary.
New Era for BAA
This operation paves the way for a new stage for BAA. Assad is considering opening up the company's capital, either through the entry of an industrial partner or through a listing on the Algerian stock market.
Preparation and Objectives
The group has been preparing for this operation since last year with the support of a specialized firm. The objective is to define the best scheme for financing the development of BAA. The planned fundraising could reach 1 billion Algerian dinars, equivalent to approximately 22.1 million Tunisian dinars. Assad plans to cede between 25% and 30% of the subsidiary's capital.
Timeline and Funding Allocation
The operation is expected to be completed before the end of 2026. The funds raised in Algeria would be used to develop local activity, with financing in the national currency. With this restructuring, Assad strengthens its control over its Algerian subsidiary before a possible opening up to investors.
