Tunisian MPs Propose Legislation to Boost Economic Freedom and Combat Rent-Seeking Practices
A group of deputies from the Assembly of People's Representatives (ARP) has submitted a legislative proposal aimed at strengthening economic freedom and combating rent-seeking practices. This initiative marks a significant step towards creating a more transparent and competitive economic environment, while enhancing Tunisia's attractiveness to local and foreign investors.
The draft law, in its Article 13, proposes the creation of an "Investor Card," an innovative tool designed to grant investors priority access to administrative services and essential information about their projects. This card would also offer benefits to facilitate administrative procedures, ensuring greater efficiency in investment implementation.
In parallel, an electronic platform dedicated to investors is planned, enabling direct communication with regulatory bodies. This interface aims to simplify the reporting of extortion or fraud cases, protecting entrepreneurs from harmful practices. If adopted, this measure could transform Tunisia's entrepreneurial ecosystem and promote an economic culture based on transparency and accountability.
