Relief for Hundreds of Thousands of Tunisians
The Assembly of People's Representatives (ARP) adopted an article yesterday, December 2, 2025, that is expected to bring relief to hundreds of thousands of Tunisians. It concerns Article 85 of the 2026 Finance Bill, which provides for the exemption from payment of unpaid traffic taxes for the years 2022, 2023, and 2024. With 67 votes in favor, 9 abstentions, and 19 votes against, this measure received widespread support, becoming one of the decisions most directly felt by citizens. As a result, Tunisians will no longer be required to pay for unpaid vehicle registration fees for past years (up to 2024). Furthermore, those who need to settle taxes for 2025 and 2026 will be able to do so without additional fees, as long as they respect the legal payment period before the end of 2026.
