Saudi Arabia Pursues Ambition to Become Unmissable Tourist Destination with Innovative Projects

Saudi Arabia is pushing forward with its ambition to become an unmissable tourist destination through innovative projects. Currently, it is finalizing its new project: Dream of the Desert, a luxury train that will connect Riyadh to Qurayyat, passing through the country's most iconic sites. This initiative is part of Vision 2030, the kingdom's vast economic diversification program.

Following in the footsteps of the Britannic Explorer and the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, a new player is set to revolutionize high-end rail tourism. Dream of the Desert, designed by architect Aline Asmar d'Amman in collaboration with Italian luxury hospitality company Arsenale and Saudi Arabian Railways (SAR), will welcome its first passengers in 2026.

Details: this 14-car train will offer 34 luxurious suites inspired by palaces, and will traverse the kingdom's flagship destinations: Riyadh, AlUla, Madain Saleh, Al Jawf, and Hail. An immersive experience at the heart of Saudi heritage, between desert landscapes and historical treasures.

Designed for a wealthy clientele, Dream of the Desert promises exceptional service. Every detail has been carefully studied: refined decoration, noble materials, and gastronomy worthy of the finest hotels. Travelers will discover a cuisine blending local influences and international gastronomic creations.

This project aims to attract 100 million visitors per year by the end of the decade. The tourism sector represents a crucial pillar of this transformation, and luxury brands, such as Elie Saab with his recent real estate project in Saudi Arabia, intend to play a major role.
