Selim Gritli Appointed Head of Business France in Libya

Effective September 1, 2026, Selim Gritli will assume the role of Head of Business France in Libya. After nearly 17 years with Business France Tunisia, he now takes charge of the French support network for companies operating in the Libyan market.

This appointment extends work he has been leading for several years. Since January 2025, Gritli has been responsible for steering Business France’s re-engagement strategy in Libya. His mission has focused on developing a local business network, coordinating actions with the French Embassy, and establishing partnerships on the ground. Consequently, his arrival in this new role is less a change of direction than a logical continuation of his growing involvement in the Libyan market.

Since 2023, Gritli has made numerous trips between Tunis, Tripoli, Sirte, and Benghazi, engaging directly with economic and institutional stakeholders in both countries. In 2026, this presence was notably demonstrated by his support for 19 French companies at the Libya Energy and Economic Summit, held in Tripoli in January. According to the French Directorate General of the Treasury, this delegation was the first foreign corporate contingent to attend the event, ahead of the American and Italian delegations.

Gritli’s career path explains this evolution. He joined Business France Tunisia in October 2009 as an export advisor specializing in agriculture and agri-food. At the time, his work focused on market intelligence, identifying opportunities, and supporting French companies in their international expansion. From 2016, he specialized in the Industries & Cleantech sector before gradually taking on managerial responsibilities. In 2022, he led the Industries & Cleantech and Agrotech divisions. In 2023, he became Head of the Tunisia Export Division and the Industries & Cleantech reference point for North Africa, with specific responsibility for commercial steering and team management.

Before joining Business France, Gritli’s career was already oriented toward industry and agri-food. A graduate of the National Institute of Agronomy of Tunisia, holding a master’s degree in food and beverage industry engineering, he worked as an engineer and head of the “brewing and malting” unit at SFBT. He also co-founded an artisanal crêperie in Tunis. This experience, blending industry, entrepreneurship, commercial development, and international support, forms the foundation of his new role.

His appointment thus marks a new stage in a career that began in Tunisia and is now firmly focused on the Libyan market, which Business France is clearly seeking to elevate in its North Africa strategy.
