Measures to Support Livestock Farmers in Tunisia
In response to the challenges faced by livestock farmers following the heatwave that hit Tunisia, the National Office of Forage (ONF) has decided to take action on the cost of animal feed. The institution announced on July 23, 2026, a downward revision of the selling price of fodder corn available in its warehouses.
New Pricing
As of this date, the selling price is set at 863 dinars per ton. This measure aims to alleviate the pressure on animal production professionals, as high temperatures have affected poultry and ruminant farms, with impacts on production conditions and costs borne by farmers.
Suspension of Financial Charges
In parallel, the ONF announced the suspension of financial charges related to the selling price of fodder corn for operations carried out with deferred payment. This decision concerns professionals who benefit from this payment method.
Eligible Beneficiaries
The scheme is addressed to all actors in the sector, including:
- Poultry and ruminant farmers
- Cooperative societies
- Community societies
- Agricultural development groups
- Milk collection centers
- Approved manufacturers and traders of agricultural feed
Objective
Through these measures, the ONF seeks to maintain the supply of livestock feed to the market and limit the economic impact of the heatwave period on animal production channels.
