National Competition to Combat Plastic Pollution Launched in Tunisia
As part of its efforts to reduce plastic pollution and its impact on public health, the Ministry of Environment, in partnership with the World Bank, is launching a national competition to reward the best initiative to combat plastic pollution, under the slogan:
"Promoting a Circular Economy to Strengthen Ecological Transition and End Plastic Pollution"
The competition is structured around three main axes:
Education and Awareness
- Informative campaigns and programs on plastic pollution
- Raising awareness among citizens about the importance of reducing plastic waste
Waste Reduction
- Concrete actions to limit the use and production of plastic waste
- Implementing sustainable practices to reduce plastic waste
Innovation and Research
- Developing innovative solutions to mitigate or eliminate plastic pollution
- Encouraging research and development of new technologies to combat plastic pollution
Eligibility The competition is open to:
- Civil society organizations
- Non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
- Private sector companies
- Municipalities
- Academic institutions
- Researchers and young scientists
Objective The competition aims to promote initiatives that have a positive impact on the environment, strengthen ecological transition, and contribute to sustainable development. It encourages the implementation of sustainable solutions, raises awareness among citizens, and promotes environmentally friendly behaviors.
Awards The winners will receive:
- Certificates of recognition from the Ministry of Environment and the World Bank
- Medals and trophies for the best projects in each category
- Featured promotion on the Ministry of Environment's website and social media platforms
