Urgent Reminder for Tunisian Taxpayers: Deadline for Tax Amnesty Looms
Tunisian taxpayers seeking to benefit from the tax amnesty provided by the 2026 Finance Law have only a few days left to act. The General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) has issued an urgent reminder: the deadline to initiate procedures with the tax control services is set for June 19, 2026, and the first payment installment must be paid by June 30, 2026, at the latest.
What is it about?
Article 69 of the 2026 Finance Law offers businesses and individuals the opportunity to settle their outstanding tax debts while benefiting from a partial waiver of late payment penalties and prosecution fees. The scheme targets debts recorded at the treasury before January 2026, as well as those arising from tax audits whose results have been notified and an agreement concluded before June 20, 2026. Also eligible are debts related to compulsory employment decisions - provided the corresponding employment authorizations date back to before October 31, 2025 - and tax debts that are the subject of final judgments transferred before June 20, 2026.
How does it work?
The mechanism applies to industrial, commercial, or professional establishments, as well as to rental and property income. In practical terms, the taxpayer must approach the tax control services to finalize the procedures before June 19, then contact the treasury to establish a payment schedule and pay the first installment in full before June 30, 2026. In exchange, 50% of the remaining late payment penalties and prosecution fees related to administrative irregularities can be waived - provided the payment schedule is strictly respected.
