Algerian University Ranks Among Top 1,200 International Institutions
The Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced on October 9 that the University of Djillali Liabes in Sidi Bel Abbès, already ranked first nationally, has been listed among the top 1,200 international universities, alongside 25 other national institutions.
This ranking was published in the 2025 edition of the Times International University Rankings, which evaluates the performance of universities from 115 countries.
The rise of the University of Djillali Liabes and other Algerian institutions in this ranking makes Algeria the first country in the Greater Maghreb region to achieve this feat.
These results reflect Algeria's willingness to align with international standards, through continuous improvement of infrastructure and academic programs. They highlight initiatives aimed at increasing the visibility of Algerian universities on the global stage and enhancing their role in the country's economic development.
It is worth noting that the "Times University Rankings" is based on five fundamental criteria that allow for the evaluation of institutions: teaching quality, research quality, citations in academic works, international openness, and industrial impact.
