Road Network Disruptions Following Heavy Rainfall

Following this morning's heavy rainfall, the Ministry of Equipment and Housing reports significant disruptions on the road network. Caution is advised: here is a comprehensive update on the situation by region.

Grand Tunis: Difficult Traffic Conditions

  • National Road 9 (RN9): Beware, the retention basin near the US Embassy has overflowed. Traffic is possible in both directions, but with extreme caution.
  • Regional Road 33 m2: The road is partially flooded. It is strongly recommended to bypass the area via the Salama neighborhood.
  • Le Kram: The RR23 (near the barracks) remains passable, but remain cautious.

Ben Arous Governorate: Areas to Avoid

Several axes are completely cut off due to rising water levels:

  • Ben Arous: Local Road 559 (between the Chifa center and the municipality).
  • South Suburbs: The TL1 (between Hammam-Lif and Borj Cédria).
  • Fouchana: The entrance to the city is blocked on the TL3.
  • Note: Local roads 557, 559, and 573 are also affected.

Nabeul and Cap Bon: Ongoing Divertions

The El-Masri dam is under surveillance, causing complications:

  • Bou Argoub: Difficulties on the TL1 and RR27 (barracks sector). Use the alternative bridges in place.
  • Reported Closures: Traffic is interrupted on the TL26 and TL1 axes, particularly towards Dar Chaabane and Korba.

Sousse and Bizerte: Precautionary Closures

  • Sousse: For safety reasons, the TL1 at the entrance to Enfidha and the RR48 at Akouda have been closed. The section of the TL1 between PK 24 and 30 is impassable.
  • Bizerte: Significant overflow on the RN8 (at kilometer point 48.5).

The Ministry urges all road users not to force their way through, to respect diversions, and to scrupulously follow the instructions of the Disaster Response Commission.
