Growing Adoption of Artificial Intelligence in Sub-Saharan Africa Yields Promising Results

The increasing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) by businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa is generating promising results. According to a PwC report published on February 6, 65% of companies using AI have improved their financial situation over the past 12 months.

The study, based on a survey of 245 business leaders in the region, reveals that 33% of companies have seen their revenue increase, and 32% have recorded a rise in profitability. The impact goes beyond finances: 56% of companies report a productivity gain, and 53% a better management of executives' worktime.

Contrary to automation-related fears, only 13% of companies claim to have eliminated jobs due to AI, a figure aligned with the global average.

Looking ahead, 72% of business leaders plan to strengthen their AI initiatives by 2025, and 45% anticipate an improvement in profitability. Despite challenges such as inflation and macroeconomic volatility, 61% of business leaders remain confident in the long-term viability of their business, a rate significantly higher than at the beginning of 2024.
