Cameroon and Chad Inaugurate New Transborder Bridge over Logone River

Cameroon and Chad officially inaugurated a new transborder bridge over the Logone River on Monday, April 28, 2025, as part of the reinforcement of regional integration in Central Africa.

The Logone River, a major tributary of the Chari River and an important element of the Lake Chad basin, flows through the northeast of Cameroon and Chad. The new bridge connects the city of Bongor in Chad to the city of Yagoua in Cameroon.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Cameroon's Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute, Chad's Prime Minister, Allah-Maye Halina, and several representatives of partner organizations.

This infrastructure project is part of the Douala-N'Djamena corridor and aims to facilitate trade exchanges and the movement of people between the two countries, while contributing to regional economic integration.

The project is jointly funded by the governments of Cameroon and Chad, the African Development Bank (AfDB), the African Development Fund, the European Union, and the Technical Assistance Fund for Middle-Income Countries. The total cost is estimated to be over 90 billion CFA francs.

The construction works, launched in February 2020, have resulted in the completion of a 600-meter-long bridge.
