Somalia Officially Joins Afreximbank
Afreximbank, the financial institution, made the announcement on Monday, March 24, 2025.
This membership represents a major opportunity to stimulate the country's economic growth, which had a human development index of 0.380 in 2022, the lowest among the 193 countries ranked by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Somalia is also among the least developed countries, according to the United Nations (UN).
For Afreximbank, this integration marks a key step towards achieving sustainable economic transformation and modernizing the country's commercial and industrial infrastructure.
