Enhanced Surveillance Measures at All Entry Points
Following an interministerial meeting held yesterday, May 22, the Minister of Health announced a strengthening of the surveillance system at all entry points of the territory, in direct collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO).
Mustapha Ferjani, Minister of Health, chaired a coordination meeting that brought together representatives from the Ministries of National Defense, Interior, Foreign Affairs, and Transport, as well as the Civil Aviation and Airports Office. Ministry officials and specialized experts also attended the meeting. The WHO Director-General joined the meeting remotely to share the latest global epidemiological data and emphasize the importance of rapid coordination in the face of any health emergency.
Key Outcomes
After the discussions, the participants concluded that the risk of international spread remains low. The priority was given to raising awareness among travelers about transmission modes and preventive measures, as well as maintaining a high level of preparedness in all concerned sectors. The Minister reaffirmed Tunisia's proactive stance: taking action upstream of the danger through early detection and coordination among all stakeholders, rather than waiting for a proven threat to emerge.
Decided Measures
The following measures were decided:
- Strengthening of health surveillance in airports, ports, and land border posts
- Rigorous application of preventive protocols to ensure rapid detection and intervention
- Increased awareness among travelers about infectious risks and preventive measures
These decisions are part of the national health security policy, aiming to protect the country's security while preserving the fluidity of exchanges at entry points.
