Two Regional Hospitals to be Built in Tunisia with Saudi Funding
Two agreements were signed on Friday, January 10, 2025, to launch the construction of two regional hospitals, category "B", located in Sbiba (Kasserine governorate) and El Jem (Mahdia governorate). These projects will be financed through a loan of 150 million Saudi riyals from the Saudi Fund for Development, equivalent to 116 million Tunisian dinars after deducting 7.5 million Saudi riyals in consulting fees.
The necessary studies, conducted by Tunisian and Saudi consulting firms, were finalized on November 30, 2023, and the call for tenders was launched on February 12, 2024. In addition, a budget from the Tunisian state has been allocated, including 12.6 million dinars for construction work and 4 million dinars for equipment and connections.
Characteristics of the Two Hospitals
1. Sbiba Hospital
- Surface area: 45,896 m²
- Capacity: 105 beds
- Construction cost (excluding medical equipment): 65 million dinars
- Structure: 3 floors with services including outpatient consultations, surgery, pediatrics, gynecology, diagnostics (laboratory, 3D imaging), hospitalization, and general services.
2. El Jem Hospital
- Surface area: 49,186 m²
- Capacity: 105 beds
- Construction cost (excluding medical equipment): 61 million dinars
- Structure: 2 floors with similar services, including emergency services, outpatient consultations, radiology, maternity, surgery, sterilization, hospitalization, and administrative management.
The construction work will begin next week, following the official signing of the agreements. The construction company has committed to completing both projects within a period of 20 months.
