Water Crisis in Tunisia: Citizens Raise Alarm
In January 2025, the Tunisian Water Observatory's (OTE) Thirst Card recorded approximately 137 citizen alerts related to water access issues.
Among these, 117 concerned unannounced water cuts by SONEDE, 11 were linked to protests demanding the right to water, and 6 reported leaks in the national network.
Gafsa was the most affected governorate with 24 alerts, followed by Gabès (13), Sousse (11), and Kef (10), according to the OTE.
