Absa Africa Financial Markets Index: South Africa Maintains Top Spot in 2024

Every year, the Absa Africa Financial Markets Index evaluates the performance of African financial markets based on criteria such as transparency, regulation, and access to foreign exchange.

The index is built on six key pillars, including market depth, macroeconomic stability, and legal standards, to analyze the accessibility and efficiency of the continent's financial markets.

In 2024, South Africa retains its position as leader with a score of 87, followed by Mauritius (77), Nigeria (64), Uganda (63), and Namibia (61). This ranking remains unchanged compared to the previous year.

As for Tunisia, it was ranked 18th on the continent, with a score of 44.
