Ministry of Health Announces Ambitious Measures to Strengthen Tunisia's Healthcare Sector
The Ministry of Health has unveiled a series of ambitious measures aimed at reinforcing Tunisia's healthcare sector, in line with President Kaïs Saïed's vision to transform the healthcare system.
During a visit to Sfax on November 12, 2024, the Minister of Health inspected several healthcare facilities to assess services and identify shortcomings, demonstrating a commitment to balanced and accessible healthcare for all.
Several actions were announced during this visit:
Sanctions for Delayed Projects
The Minister referred the dossier of irregularities in the construction of the new Bir Ali Ben Khalifa hospital, which has been stalled for a long time, to the justice system.
Improvement of Medical Infrastructure
A multidisciplinary field hospital will be set up soon, and the closed units of the Bir Ali Ben Khalifa regional hospital will be reopened.
Financial Reinforcement
An envelope of 60 million dinars has been allocated to modernize Sfax's medical equipment.
Modern Equipment
Hospitals in the region will be equipped with new ambulances and advanced medical equipment, including mammography machines, scanners, and MRI machines.
Expansion Projects
The Skhira hospital will benefit from an expansion to meet the growing needs of the population.
Guarantee of Medication Supply
A permanent stock of essential medications and vaccines will be maintained to avoid shortages.
Digitalization of Healthcare Services
A digital medical file will be implemented to simplify access to care.
Reduction of Waiting Times
Measures are being taken to reduce waiting times, particularly for emergencies.
Reinforcement of Human Resources
Efforts are being made to redistribute healthcare professionals to underserved areas, particularly for specialized medicine.
Prevention Campaigns
Awareness initiatives are planned to promote health prevention across the country.
