4th Edition of Electromobility Seminar Held in Tunis
Today, the 4th edition of the electromobility seminar, organized by Ami Assurances, took place in Tunis. This event brought together key players from the automotive industry and electric mobility specialists. The main objective of this edition was to discuss the technological advancements, economic challenges, and political issues impacting the development of electromobility on a global scale.
Insights from BMW Group's Samir Touil
Samir Touil, quality engineer at BMW Group in Munich, provided an interesting perspective on current market trends. According to him, "extremely high inflation rates have led to a significant increase in new vehicle prices." However, he believes that the gradual decrease in global inflation could have a positive impact on the electromobility sector.
Touil also highlighted that the price hike is not limited to new vehicles, but also affects used cars, with an average price increase of over 20% in Europe and the United States since 2020. This phenomenon has also impacted car insurance, repair and maintenance costs, as well as car rental prices.
The Impact of Upcoming Elections on Electromobility
He also discussed the potential impact of the 2024 elections in over 60 countries, particularly in the United States. The outcome of these elections could influence environmental policies and the transition to electric mobility. "In the United States, depending on the presidential election result, new regulations or relaxations could be introduced," he specified. The Democratic approach favors stricter emission standards and tax incentives for green technologies, while Republicans are more inclined to support traditional energy sources.
Global Electromobility Market Overview
On a global scale, Samir Touil highlighted China, Europe, and the United States as the dominant markets for electromobility, representing 95% of global electric vehicle sales in 2023, or 9.1 million vehicles. In Europe, Norway stands out with 85.4% of new electric vehicle registrations, followed by Iceland and Sweden. However, adoption remains low in Latin America and Africa, although some countries, like Morocco, are starting to develop strategies to promote electromobility.
New Collaboration in the Electromobility Sector
It's worth mentioning a promising new collaboration in the electromobility sector: BYD, which produced over 6 million electric vehicles in 2023, will soon become a strategic partner of Ami Assurances.
