Two 10-MW Solar Power Projects Launched in Kasserine, Tunisia

Two solar power projects, each with a capacity of 10 megawatts, will be implemented in the Fériana delegation, Kasserine governorate, with a total investment of 48 million dinars, financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy laid the foundation stone for these projects yesterday, Friday, December 6, 2024, accompanied by the Secretary of State in charge of Energy Transition and high-ranking officials from the energy sector.

The companies "Qair" and "Mazarine" are overseeing the implementation of these projects under the licensing regime. These initiatives aim to strengthen the national electricity grid, ensure a stable power supply during peak periods, and support national efforts to integrate 35% of renewable energy into the energy mix by 2030, according to the Minister.

The Secretary of State in charge of Energy Transition specified that these projects will produce the equivalent of the electricity consumption of 30,000 households, save around 8,000 tons of natural gas per year (valued at $4 million), and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 17,000 tons per year. The projects are expected to come online before summer 2025.
