Tunisia's Active Population Reaches 4.26 Million in Q2 2025, with a Slight Decrease in Unemployment Rate
According to the National Institute of Statistics (INS), Tunisia's active population reached 4.26 million individuals in the second quarter of 2025, an increase of 26,500 compared to the previous quarter. Men make up 68.1% of this population, while women account for 31.9%.
The number of employed individuals stands at 3.61 million, a growth of 39,900, with 53% working in services, 20% in manufacturing industries, 13% in non-manufacturing industries, and 14% in agriculture and fishing. The distribution by gender remains unequal, with 70.2% of men and 29.8% of women.
The unemployment rate has slightly decreased to 15.3%, down from 15.7% in the previous quarter. This decline primarily affects men, with an unemployment rate of 12.6%, while the female unemployment rate has increased to 20.9%. Among young people aged 15-24, the unemployment rate has decreased to 36.8%, whereas the rate for higher education graduates has risen to 24% (14.2% for men and 31.3% for women).
These figures illustrate a moderate recovery in employment, while highlighting the persistent inequalities in Tunisia's labor market.
