European Investment Bank (EIB) to Allocate Additional €30 Million to Support Tunis Water Supply Project
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has announced its willingness to allocate an additional €30 million to support the water supply reinforcement project in Greater Tunis.
This financing will be dedicated to the construction of the Béjaoua station and the development of the financial infrastructure in El Hassian, two essential pillars to meet the growing demand for drinking water in the region.
This announcement was made during a meeting between the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries, and the EIB representative in Tunisia, accompanied by the international cooperation officer from the European Union delegation in Tunisia.
In addition to the drinking water supply aspect, the discussions focused on other strategic axes of collaboration, including sustainable water resource management, the valorization of non-conventional water sources such as treated water, and the use of solar energy in the context of energy transition projects.
The Minister also expressed his department's interest in strengthening cooperation with the EIB in vital sectors such as improving olive oil storage capacity and setting up financing lines for small farmers.
This initiative is part of a broader partnership between the Ministry and the EIB, aiming to support Tunisia's strategic priorities in natural resource management and agricultural development.
The EIB reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Ministry according to its priorities, while providing the necessary financial and technical assistance to concretize these projects.
