Tunisian Taxpayers with Real Estate Assets Worth 3 Million Dinars or More Must Declare and Pay Taxes by June 30, 2025
The Tunisian taxpayers whose real estate assets reach or exceed 3 million dinars are required to declare and pay their taxes before June 30, 2025. This was announced by the General Directorate of Taxes in a statement published yesterday on its Facebook page.
The "Real Estate Wealth Tax"
Introduced by Chapter 23 of the 2023 Finance Law, the "Real Estate Wealth Tax" applies to individuals. It is levied on the commercial value of their real estate assets, including those belonging to their minor children under their care. The tax rate is set at 0.5% of the net value of the concerned assets.
Determining the Value of Real Estate Assets
To determine this value, debts encumbering the real estate assets are deducted, except for certain guarantees. The following are exempt:
- The declarant's primary residence
- Professional use assets, except for real estate assets justified for the benefit of others
Important Reminder
The Ministry of Finance reminds taxpayers that failure to meet the deadline will result in penalties. The declaration and payment must be made to the financial collector corresponding to the taxpayer's primary residence.
Deadline: June 30, 2025
Don't miss the deadline! Declare and pay your taxes on time to avoid penalties.
