African Development Bank Unveils Annual Media Prize

During the African Media Leaders' Summit, themed "Rethinking African Media in a Time of Profound Change," the President of the African Development Bank Group, Akinwumi Adesina, announced the creation of an annual media prize. This prize aims to honor and highlight the work of African journalists, correspondents, and media outlets that showcase Africa's achievements and progress.

Promoting Positive Media Coverage of Africa

Adesina emphasized that this initiative will be implemented in collaboration with All Africa Media and African financial institutions, as part of efforts to promote more positive media coverage of developments in Africa.

Supporting African Journalists

Adesina also promised that the African Development Bank, in partnership with other sector stakeholders and financial institutions on the continent, will support the creation of scholarships for African journalists and correspondents, contributing to capacity building and professional development.

Standardizing African Success Stories

Adesina called on African development institutions to adopt a common framework for verified and standardized stories, videos, and content to facilitate the production of articles on African successes.
