12th HEC Doctoriales: Artificial Intelligence at the Heart of Scientific Reflection

The Institute of Higher Commercial Studies of Carthage (IHEC), in partnership with the University of Carthage and the IAE of Lille, is organizing the 12th edition of the HEC Doctoriales, an annual scientific event dedicated to promoting research in economic sciences and management. This event offers PhD students a space for exchange, training, and reflection on current scientific challenges.

Artificial Intelligence: A Driver of Innovation for Research

Artificial intelligence (AI) is today a powerful lever of innovation in the field of scientific research. By automating the processing of massive data volumes, facilitating the detection of complex correlations, and generating hypotheses from unstructured information, AI enables researchers to push the limits of traditional analysis. It optimizes literature reviews, accelerates experimental processes, improves the accuracy of predictive models, and opens the way to more innovative approaches. Thanks to AI, research gains in speed, depth, and capacity, while posing new ethical challenges that must be addressed.

Promising Advances, but Crucial Ethical Issues

Despite its advantages, the use of AI in research raises important questions. What is the reliability of results generated by algorithms? How can we guarantee the transparency of automated processes, particularly those from "black box" models? What responsibility do researchers have in using these powerful tools? And above all, how can we preserve the human essence of research – its creativity, critical capacity, and intuition – in the face of the temptation of generalized automation?

These challenges call for rigorous ethical oversight: traceability of sources, respect for intellectual property, protection of personal data, and transparency on the use of AI tools in all scientific production.

A Space for Dialogue, Training, and Inspiration

The 12th edition of the HEC Doctoriales will offer a rich and varied program over three days: plenary conferences, practical workshops, round tables, and intergenerational exchanges between researchers and young PhD students. Among the expected speakers are prestigious names such as Pr. Jean Philippe Galan (IAE Bordeaux), Pr. Mohamed Louadi (ISG Tunis), Pr. Foued Ben Said (ESC Tunis), as well as several other renowned specialists.

As usual, a significant emphasis will be placed on the socioeconomic environment. The IHEC Carthage doctoral school affirms, through this edition, its commitment to open research, anchored in field realities. Applied research occupies a central place, fostering concrete bridges between academic knowledge and needs. To this end, the presence of speakers from the socioeconomic sector will enrich the debates and nourish collective thinking on the impact of research.

The closing ceremony will be marked by a scientific valorization ceremony, during which the best theses will be distinguished in the flagship disciplines of IHEC: accounting, economics, management, and marketing. A recognition of academic excellence and a highlight of the most promising contributions to the advancement of knowledge.

Thinking the Future of Research

By inscribing this edition of the HEC Doctoriales in the reflection around AI, IHEC Carthage affirms its pioneering role, engaged in the training of critical minds, the promotion of responsible research, and the accompaniment of scientific evolutions in the digital era. AI is not a researcher, it's an assistant. It amplifies our capabilities, without ever replacing our critical spirit.
