12,000 Tons of Maltese Oranges to Hit the French Market: A New Era for Tunisian Exports
This Saturday, January 11, Bachir Aoun Allah, President of the Local Union of Agriculture and Maritime Fishing of Bni Khaled, announced that Tunisia is set to export 12,000 tons of Maltese oranges to the French market.
The exceptional quality and exquisite taste of these oranges have enabled them to gain a significant foothold in exports, with a projected 12,000 tons expected for 2025.
This remarkable harvest is attributed to the recent rainfall that saved the season, combined with the irrigation efforts made by farmers.
Two other varieties, clementines and Thompsons, have also shown impressive harvest volumes, with a 30% increase, promising a bright future for exports.
Fortunately, the era of Maltese oranges being rejected on the French market due to pesticide residues in 2023 is now behind us. While the requirements remain stringent, the quality of our products has significantly improved.
